*just one dollar*
Exams are coming.
...Can there be anything else that are coming? *pissed*
Looking aside from the trucks of notes..
Last saturday as i was taking a stroll around my grandma's place, i came across this tired looking old man. He was standing somewhere in between the route from bugis street to OG. As i unknowingly approached him, he nervously shoved four packets of tissues at my face. His action was rather sudden so i only smile and walked away. Then i checked my pockets for money but i only had ten dollars notes with me so i just continued walking away. Susan had wanted to get his soya-jelly drink (or whatever you call soya bean milk with grass jelly :s), so i stood outside the hawker centre to wait for him. As i waited, i watched the old man in silent. No one bought his tissues. No one even bother looking at him. Everyone that he approached immediately took a change in path as if he was an obstacle in their way. I..I did that too? As soon as susan returned (but without his drink as the stall had closed..haha), we went over to the ice-cream man and got ourselves some smaller change. When we were back, he was gone. I should have just bought the tissues with my notes.
Sometimes..people forgot about sparing a thought for others just for personal convenience. I didnt buy the tissues with my notes because i didnt want the coins that will add weight to my pockets. Perhaps if i had bought some tissues from him, i could have made his day. Perhaps.. I believe many other people didnt buy the tissues because tissue sellers usually sell tissues at higher prices. But how much more expensive can it be? 10 cents? 20 cents? It could have a drink less for us, but it could be a day more to live for some of them. Yeah..of cos i exaggerate there abit but you get the idea dont you?
Oh..one more thing. Near the traffic junction from sim lim square to my grandma's place, there will always be this abandoned old man sitting on a mat with his entire belongings seated somewhere near behind him. On one attempt to help him, i went back determined to google out a solution for him. Guess what? Instead of having a whole list of helplines, the second result for the search "homeless old help singapore" is "Action for Singapore Dogs - society set up to help the stray and abandoned dogs.." How disappointing.. Anyway, the last time i went back there to see, he was gone, and so are his belongings. I sure hope he got helped. Hope.
So many thoughts.. Hmm..back to work.
